The last Known World Academy of the Rapier. KWAR AS XLIV was held the weekend of October 10th in the Barony of Bhakail in the East Kingdom (Philadelphia PA.) This is ''the'' teaching event for rapier combat and related topics in the SCA. I was there, and taught a few classes. When the next KWAR location is chosen, I'll post the information here.

The Raymond J. Lord Collection Scans of historical combat manuals, starting with Manciolino's Opera Nova in 1531, and going through the 17th century.

De Arte Athletica by Paul Mair. This is a gorgeously illustrated two-volume manual of arms from the 1540s, with everything from jousting lances to rapiers to scythes. The text is in Latin, but even if you don't read Latin, the pictures alone are worth the trip.
